3 Day workshop
This workshop is a three day worskshop for all ages 8-18yrs
If you’ve ever wanted to invent your own style or customise your own apparel then these are the workshops are for you.
They’re about all things, printy, stencilly, and finding your own individuality!
Set over three days, budding fashionistas will learn how to make art on clothing using household items such as bleach, lino and spray paint. They will leave with t-shirts and tote bags that they will have designed themselves with their own style and imagination.
These customised items are so cool and once you learn how its all done then there’ll be no stopping you.
This workshop is intended as an all intensive 3 day experience but can be booked as a two day experience for €115, or even a one day experience for €55. So feel free to get in touch about availability for your choice of day and we’ll work something out.
Please note: Spaces are limited, so those looking to book for the full, 3 day workshop will take precedent.

Make your own Kaleidoscope
This workshop is for all ages 8-18yrs
Who doesn’t love looking through a kaleidoscope? Its like looking through a fluctuating stained glass window, that gives you a real sense of magic and wonder.
In this workshop we will make our very own, personalised, kaleidoscope, while also learning a little of the history of its invention as well.
Participants will also make multiple cartridges to load onto there kaleidoscope so that they can change their experience anytime they wish.
Come along and fill your eyes with wonder :)

The annual studio day out
This workshop is a 2 day workshop for ages 13-18yrs
Since everybody enjoyed it so much last year, we are going back again! Even though we got rained on, one of the destination galleries was closed, and I destroyed them all in air hockey, demoralising them :)) Nonetheless, they have been undeterred in requesting that we repeat the Bray day out :)
Set over two days this is a great opportunity for the group to connect socially and add to, or start, their growing collection of handcrafted notebook/sketchbooks that they’ve made through the years with us here.
On the Monday we will make our sketchbooks, learning a bit about book binding etc. and then, bright and early on Tuesday, bring them with us as we catch the early Dublin train to Bray. Drawing challenges start straight away on the train and then some observational work while we have coffee and hot chocolates in the seafront cafe on arrival. We will visit a couple of galleries and do some work in response to what we find there, then, weather permitting, have a picnic on the beach before they can try dethrone me as Air Hockey champion in the arcade:)
Some snacks will be provided but please bring a packed lunch and dress accordingly.

Johnstown Castle day out for the kiddos
This workshop is a full day workshop for ages 8-13yrs
The teens can’t have all the fun with their fancy day-trip to Bray, now can they? So what can we do about it? Well, we’ll meet up in Light and Shadow studios in the morning of the 21st. Learn how to make a handcrafted sketchbook and personalise it in our own style. Then hop on our own private mini-bus out to Johnstown Castle where we’ll do plenty of observational drawings and challenges in our newly made notebooks, in the picturesque surrounds, enjoying a picnic by the lake and feeding the peacocks, ducks and crows while we are at it :)
Lots of fun and mischief to be had.

Weekly Classes

After school Art Classes
(8-12yrs) & (13-18yrs)
After school art classes are centered around learning the fundamentals of art, through drawing and painting using pencil, charcoal, ink, watercolour and acrylics. Students are taught a variety of techniques in how to compose their work while being encouraged to develop and realise their own ideas.
It all happens in the Light and Shadow studios which offers a comfortable, relaxed environment where students come to express themselves in a social surround of like minded individuals.

Evening Classes for Adults
If you’ve always been interested in art or wished you could let out that creative side of yourself, then join us in the relaxed atmosphere of the upstairs studios in Light and Shadow and unlock that side of yourself. You’ll be surrounded by like-minded people and no matter your ability or level, you will be welcomed.
Classes are run weekly and centre around painting and drawing using a variety of mediums. All materials are supplied so you just need to bring yourself and your willingness to learn :)
